Caring Society says 'bald allegations' levelled by Canada at human rights tribunal not based in fact
May 22, 2025
In its submission, Caring Society says government's approach 'inconsistent' with public statements from prime minister.
The implementation of comprehensive prevention services has been instrumental in decreasing the number of children entering care. By focusing on early intervention and support for families, these services address the root causes that often lead to child apprehension.
Programs such as family counseling, in-home support, financial assistance and access to community resources empower families to overcome challenges before they escalate into crisis.
This proactive approach not only strengthens family units, but also reduces the need for children to be placed in care, promoting long-term stability and well-being for children within their own homes and communities.
The continued expansion and refinement of our services are essential to sustaining progress, ensuring that more children grow up safe, supported, and surrounded by the people who matter most-their families.
The Awasis Agency of Northern Manitoba supports the following member First Nations:
Barren Lands (Brochet), Fox Lake (Bird), Mantou Sakahigan God's Lake, Manto Sipi (God's River), Northlands (Lac Brochet), Bunibonibee (Oxford House), Sayisi Dene (Tadoule Lake), Tataskweyak (Split Lake), Shamattawa First Nation, War Lake (Ilford) and York Factory (York Landing).
Our Units work from a holistic framework to meet the needs of children and families. Our teams work with resources and are beginning to practice the family circle framework. We are always reminded that "it takes a village to raise a child."
